Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Comes to Nintendo Switch This Fall

Ever since Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was revealed by way of an announcement trailer to then subsequently launch so soon after in October 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, fans have been wondering whether or not Bandai Namco Entertainment would ever bring the fighting game to Nintendo’s newest console for additional third-party support of the system. Now, it seems as if no one has to ponder any longer, as the publisher announced over the weekend that the title is slated to release sometime during fall 2017 for the Switch.

As seen below in the tweet from Bandai Namco’s US account, the company didn’t explicitly state an exact date for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, but it did confirm several features that will be included in its launch for Switch. For instance, the publisher said that there will be ad-hoc play, motion controls, and the capability for two player battles on one system with the use of a single Joy-Con apiece.

While the aforementioned features for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on Nintendo Switch aren’t exactly a true game changer for the title, it’s still good to see that the developers are attempting to utilze the console’s uniqueness to add even more ways to play it. With that said, it will be interesting to see how the fighting game’s motion controls hold up on the Switch, and if the character’s movements on-screen will seamlessly sync-up with players’ gesticulations to shoot Kamehameha energy attacks.

Taking all of this into consideration, the fact that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is coming to the Switch is great news for both fans of the game and Nintendo alike, as there is currently a dearth of excellent first- and third-party titles on the console, save for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, of course. And with Bandai Namco having recently declared that Tekken 7 isn’t in development for the Switch, and many other publishers and developers confirming the same for their forthcoming titles, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 coming to the Big N’s newest system will be a great selling point.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch launch set for sometime this fall.
