The Cowboys and Cyclones will face each other on Saturday, and we have all you need to know.
Both the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Iowa State Cyclones lost their last games and are hoping to rebound when they face each other on Saturday. The game will begin at 12 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN2 (livestream via WatchESPN).
Oklahoma State is 7-2 and ranked 15th in the nation after a 62-52 defeat at the hands of the rival Oklahoma Sooners in its last outing. The Cowboys have Saturday’s tough game against Iowa State but should be favored big time in their final two games, so they’re still in good shape.
Their only other loss on the season was to then-No. 16 TCU earlier in the season. Their only ranked win was against then-No. 22 West Virginia prior to their game against Oklahoma.
Iowa State is 6-3 and ranked No. 21 in the nation. It lost to West Virginia, now unranked, its last time out. Like the Cowboys, the Cyclones should be favored in their final two games.
Iowa State beat Oklahoma and TCU this season, while all three losses were to then-unranked teams. At the time, Oklahoma was No. 3 in the nation and TCU was No. 4, so despite the inferior record, the Cyclones have some higher-profile wins on their record going into Saturday’s tilt with Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State news:
- The folks over at Cowboys Ride For Free took a deep-dive look at the Iowa State offense, and they have a whole section about big receiver Allen Lazard.
The 6’5 senior (#5) is not only one of the best receivers in the Big 12, but he’s one of the best in the country. He leads the team in receiving yards and touchdown grabs on the season and he’s Kempt’s go-to guy whenever the Cyclones need to make a play. He’s a Marcell Ateman type receiver, and he leads the pack of tall Iowa State wideouts.
It doesn’t matter if there’s a man on him, Kempt will throw him the ball as he has complete confidence in his big target.
- Speaking of Lazard, the folks at Wide Ride and Natty Lite are extremely grateful for the receiver’s ability and the hope he’s brought to the fans.
Iowa State can compete with the Oklahomas of the world. Iowa State can enter the College Football Playoff discussion. Iowa State can have high expectations that are realistic.
Can’t is no longer a word I feel comfortable using with Iowa State football.
The perfect culmination to Lazard’s tenure in Ames would be Iowa State’s first Big 12 championship. I didn’t used to believe this was possible, but I certainly do now.
- For Oklahoma State, Saturday’s game is an absolute must-win if it wants to progress any further.
