About a week ago, eagle-eyed fans discovered that Capcom’s Japanese website for the Resident Evil series was updated to reflect a fresh placeholder for a project that for the time being has simply been labeled “Biohazard“–the name of the franchise in Japan–indicating that a potential new project could be unveiled soon. Now, some fans are under the impression that a big announcement regarding the survival-horror series is imminent due to Capcom having recently changed all of the game’s social media logos.
As it so happens, the image found directly below is now the logo being used for Capcom’s official Twitter and Facebook accounts to advertise all things Resident Evil, and long-time fans of the series will likely recognize the font style immediately. For those unaware, the red lettered logo is reminiscent of the type and color used for some of the title cards that promoted the first three entries in the RE franchise.
Naturally, this is far from actual proof that Capcom is primed to deliver an announcement related to the survival-horror series soon, but considering the fact that Resident Evil 2‘s 20th anniversary will occur just eight days from now on January 21, 2018, it’s quite possible that this is the publisher and developer preparing fans for something juicy. After all, an RE2 remake has already been confirmed, but due to Capcom sharing little else since, the company might finally reveal some long-awaited gameplay footage for the project.
Bearing all of this in mind, the most likely explanation of Capcom updating Resident Evil‘s social media logos is that the company is ready to showcase its RE2 remake at last. The game has already spent about two years in development thus far, so surely the team has been given plenty of time to at least put together a smooth-looking trailer. Then again, considering Capcom’s proclivity for HD remasters, the publisher and developer might be getting everyone ready for a remaster of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
The most recent entry in Capcom’s classic survival-horror franchise is Resident Evil 7, which is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, and Xbox One.
