The AT&T Primetime is a cheap tablet meant to keep you watching DirecTV Now forever

AT&T’s new tablet is filled with bloatware, all in the name of AT&T. The Primetime, as it’s called, comes preloaded with the company’s software, including DirecTV. Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Choice customers can add the tablet to their unlimited wireless plan for an extra $20 / month, so they can consume as much content as they want, whenever they want. For other plans, the tablet costs $10 a month for 20 months, or $29.99 with a two-year contract. The tablet itself sounds unextraordinary.

It features:

  • A 10-inch Full HD display
  • Dual Bluetooth connections
  • 9,070mAh battery
  • Runs Android, although AT&T doesn’t explicitly list which version

AT&T loves pointing out that its special TV Mode lets users load the DirectTV app with “one quick touch or swipe,” I’d like to point out that launching an app isn’t all that hard already, and you could download the DirectTV on any Android tablet or iPad. I’m not sure this selling point convinces anyone they need the Primetime.

The landing page for it is currently down, but we expect it to go live at any point today. Make sure you send it to your friend or family member who loves AT&T. And just for good measure, I’m going to write AT&T again. Goodbye.
