I know, I know: you think “smartwatch” and you naturally think “Apple Watch” or perhaps “Android Wear”. And then the next thoughts that come into your head is “how many hundreds of dollars am I going to have to splash out to get one?”
Well, if you do want an Apple Watch or most Android Wear watches, then yeah, you’re looking at a cost in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars. However, there is some good news: there are a lot of smartwatches out there that cost under a hundred dollars.
Yep, you heard that right.
Now sure, these sub-$100 smartwatches aren’t going to have the industrial design native to the Apple Watch or more expensive Android Wear smartwatches, nor will they have all the sensors, specifically ones for tracking health functions.
But what you gotta remember about a lot of these so called health tracking features is this: most of them aren’t particularly accurate anyway. The best you can probably do is heart rate, but then that usually is an approximation.
As time goes by, smartwatches – if the space survives – will become more sophisticated, adding in new, and more interesting capabilities. Apple will likely lead this charge, as it has the most successful watch of all.
But if you’re after something that will deliver plenty of functionality, you don’t need to be spending the big bucks. All the watches on this list are superb, look great, and feature a myriad of useful features.
So with that in mind, here are some of the best smartwatches we found for under $100.
