Georges St-Pierre clashes with Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC 217 this Saturday night, with the sportsbooks setting that marquee matchup as a pick’em.
Georges St-Pierre had won each of his last 12 matches before retiring in Dec. 2013. One of the sport’s all-time greats will make his return to the octagon this Saturday night at UFC 217 in a UFC Middleweight Championship fight against Michael Bisping.
St-Pierre vs. Bisping is currently a pick’em with both sides going off at -115 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This makes sense, as this is an extremely difficult fight to predict.
In his prime, St-Pierre would be favored against anyone he faced. However, four years removed from real ring action, moving up in weight class and facing a strong opponent in Bisping who is unbeaten over his last five fights? This one could go either way.
Regardless of who wins, the fans at Madison Square Garden are likely to get their money’s worth. The fight is a -160 favorite to go the distance (with the fight not going the distance paying +115), which seems likely as four of Bisping’s last five fights and each of St-Pierre’s last seven fights have gone to the cards.
In what should be another great title bout, 26-year-old Cody Garbrandt will put his UFC Bantamweight title and his undefeated 11-0 record on the line against T.J. Dillashaw. Garbrandt’s rise to the top of the division has been a swift one, capped off with his impressive win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 207. A successful defense of his title as a -185 favorite over the dangerous Dillashaw (+150) would solidify his spot as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.
Another undefeated champion in 14-0 Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her UFC Strawweight title as a -600 betting favorite against Rose Namajunas (+400). At just 25 years old, Namajunas has been steadily improving and is 4-1 over her last five fights with three submission wins over that stretch. With that said, Jedrzejczyk may be the best women’s fighter in the world right now, and it’s difficult to see her slipping up.
Rounding out the top of the card are Stephen Thompson (-185) vs. Jorge Masvidal (+150) and Paulo Borrachinha (-240) vs. Johny Hendricks (+190). Borrachinha is 10-0 as a professional and 2-0 so far in the UFC.
