Xur Location and Exotic Selection for August 25-27

With only one visit left before the release of Destiny 2, Xur is counting his days and players are crossing their fingers he brings their missing exotics. At some point, Destiny 1 players are simply going to give up on completing their exotic armor and weapon collection and move on to the next game. It doesn’t help that this week also delivered some major reveals about Destiny 2’s European Dead Zone and further built up the hype.

In the mean time, Xur has returned to Destiny for the weekend to offer players a selection of exotic armor and an exotic weapon to purchase. Xur has been a source of endless frustration for many players, but all things considered most likely hope he returns for Destiny 2 next month.

Xur Location

This week, players can find Xur in The Reef, in his usual hiding spot. Head to the right after spawning into the social space, follow the stairs down, turn to the right, and Xur will be behind the only door. Normally the door is locked, but it opens when Xur is in town.

Exotic Armor and Weapon

Xur’s exotic armor selection this week includes The Taikonaut helmet for Titans, the Shinobu’s Vow gauntlets for Hunters, and The Ram helmet for Warlocks. PvP Warlock players will want to pick up The Ram immediately if they don’t already have it, but the other two items are less desirable. The Taikonaut has a goofy look to it, but added tracking for rockets is not that useful. And Shinobu’s Vow is less popular following nerfs to skip grenades on Bladedancers.

The Last Word is Xur’s exotic weapon for the weekend, a fast-firing hand cannon that is reminiscent of a Wild West six-shooter. The gun is still decent in PvP – where it is meant to thrive – but it is not nearly as strong as it once was. There was a time when The Last Word was a must for PvP players, but hand cannon nerfs and Last Word-specific nerfs ruined that.

And finally, Xur’s exotic weapon bundles are The Last Word and its Sequel ornament, and the Trespasser sidearm and its Fallen Assassin ornament. Since The Last Word is already on sale from Xur, we’d recommend purchasing it for the Strange Coins rather than the bundle.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • The Taikonaut (Titan Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • Shinobu’s Vow (Hunter Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
  • The Ram (Warlock Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
  • The Last Word (Hand Cannon) – 23 Strange Coins
  • Legacy Heavy Weapon Engram – 31 Strange Coins

Destiny: Rise of Iron is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
