The iconic Mercedes-Benz G Class off-roader will make its bow at the Detroit Auto Show later this month.
However, it looks like we won’t have to wait until January 15 to get a good look at the boxy 4×4’s 2019 iteration.
Chinese site AutoHome (via Motor1) has somehow nabbed some grainy official images of the car, showing us the exterior for the first time.
As you can see, the new G Class keeps its retro shape with minimal changes, which is likely to please fans of the near-40-year-old series.
We already know from last month’s official teaser that the 2019 G Class will have a much roomier interior with some modernised internal tech.
It’s the first G Class to have a moonroof, while there’s an optional 12.3-inch CarPlay/Android Auto-enabled touchscreen.

That feature has already made its way into the S-Class and E-Class vehicles and will be joined by a 16-speaker surround sound powered by Burmester.
For taller drivers there’s 1.5-inches of extra legroom and 2.7-inches of additional elbow space. There’s even massaging leather seats. For rear-seat passengers there’s a whopping 6-inches of additional leg room.
